Typeface Design, Poster Design
This is a process of studying how to design typefaces by designing typefaces.
The design process started with the uppercase letter form “H”, Then E, A, O. The upper case “H” decides the cap height, width, counter form size vertical and horizontal weight. After The “H” was settled down, I did the half-open shape form which is the “E”. Then the triangle shape “A”. Then, “O” decided the relationship between counter form and letter form.
For the design process of lowercase, “n” was the first form that I drew out. To the most people “n” plays the same roll as uppercase “H”, lowercase, “n” decides the x height and how curves look. In English speaking and writing the most frequently used letter is “a” “e” “i” “o” “u”. Those are the forms I spend the most time on.

The process of designing this set of typeface is also a process of me learning the forms, shapes, spacing, counter forms and more. By playing with the handle bars, make different veneration, each form can be compare side by side and with other completed forms. Repeating the process and a complete system was created. Visually speaking, I want to make a set of fonts with inner and outer circles, it is easier to read and creates a nice flow of form. After working on the regular weight, I decided to try another weight, putting two regular forms together I got an ideal of black weight.
After finishing drawing the whole set, working on tracking, kurning, line spacing is necessary. After that was done put them in paragraphs and I also experienced them in colors. Experience the letter form with color part one as black on white, white on black, varying value grays, similar value grays, same hue/vary value, same hue/similar value, vary hue/same value, vary hue/similar value, vary hue/vary value, similar hue/same value, similar hue/similar value, similar hue/vary value. Part two, letter form interact with different value(30, 60, 90) of CMYK. In the end I also used this typeface to designed a poster.
